Barbara Rouse passed away peacefully at Wuesthoff Medical Center in Rockledge on March 14, 2018 at the age of 81. Barbara was born in San Diego, California in 1936 and traveled the world as a military wife until she was widowed in 1976. In 1977, she moved to Brevard County, FL where she met and married her dance partner and beloved husband, Carroll.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Carroll, and her children, Mary Duhamel (John), Richard Russell, James Russell (Linda), Karen Kaufman (Tony), Tony Russell (Rosa), Glynda Russell and step-daughters Becky Demmer (Allan) and Paula Falgas (Freddie). She is also survived by siblings Paterno Escarilla (Julie), Robert Escarilla, Sandra Wickham (Don), and predeceased by her parents, Paterno Escarilla and Mary Escarilla, her daughter, Debra Lee Russell, and her sisters, Rose Escarilla, and Peggy Burns. Barbara is survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Barbara had many interests and passions. She loved God and served faithfully at her church as a Stephen Minister, started and led the Caregivers Support Group, and was a vocalist with The Grace Notes. She also loved to make jewelry and often held holiday jewelry parties. Barbara’s primary passion was dancing and music. She and Carroll were dance partners prior to their marriage and continued to dance throughout their entire 37- year marriage. She was involved in local theatre at the Cocoa Village Playhouse and in local dance performances. Later in life, Barbara and Carroll enjoyed taking cruises where they could dance to their hearts’ desire.
Friends and family will be received at her church, Grace United Methodist Church, 65 Needle Blvd., Merritt Island, FL 32953 (321)-452-2420) on Monday, March 19, 2018. A public viewing will be held at 3:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life service at 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Grace United Methodist Church.
