Barbara Simpson made sure that I got to church. On one Sunday morning when I was 10, I looked for my Mother in church and set down beside her. At the end of the church service I made my profession of faith. My Mother knew I was ready to walk in the footsteps of Jesus Christ. My Mother reached out to help others always. She had a wonderful gift of Hospitality. Barbie Wood, daughter to Barbara Kay McDonald Simpson.

She was the daughter of Samuel DeSheild McDonald Jr (originally from Gainsville, FL) and Clarice Genieve Hall (originally from Lowell, FL).

Grandma Simpson was a hot rod when she wanted to be.  One memory I have is when my brothers Bryan and Keith Wood and I were waiting for grandma to pull her 1979 Camaro Z28 out of their garage on Oleander Drive to take us to the mall. She told us to wait by the gate while she went to get the car.  We heard the tires squealing as she backed out of the garage and pulled up to get us.  We all had a good laugh about our hot rod grandma.  Other memories are the many sleep overs at their house followed by going to Sambos restaurant the following morning were always a treat for me and my brothers especially after watching some scary movie. We would have to sleep in our sleeping bags at the foot of their bed.  I also enjoyed the many conversations sitting in the living room of her house just talking about my sons with her.  She was an encouragement to me and loved to hear about how they were doing with their medical issues.
