

Barbara Joy Williams, 78, of Merritt Island, FL passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016. Born in Beverly, NJ, Barbara Joy moved to Florida when she was just three years old. She has attended Rockledge Presbyterian Church since moving to Merritt Island and has been a member for 76 years. She sang in the church choir, taught Sunday school, was part of the women's league, a member of the Presbyterian Women, Panhellenic, and Delta Gamma.Barbara Joy graduated from Cocoa High in 1955 where she was a member of the marching band. Barbara Joy was a Florida State Alumni and a Florida State Football fan. She worked for Brevard County Schools as a teacher for 28 years, teaching K-3rd grade. She loved scrapbooking, enjoyed studying genealogy, reading.
Barbara Joy is survived by her husband, Claude Williams; daughter, Kristi Joy Porter (Richard); son, Greg Williams (Tonya); grandchildren: Michael Williams, James Williams (Lauren), Traci Williams, Addisyn Joy Porter, and Jericho Porter; two sisters: Carol Towns (Delbert) and Josie Neal (Mike).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of St. Francis or Rockledge Presbyterian Church.
A visitation will be held Friday, November 25, 2016 from 6-8PM at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at Rockledge Presbyterian on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 2PM with interment to follow at Florida Memorial Gardens.
