Bernard Joseph (Bud) McKelvy passed away on September 4th. He is survived by his wife Florence and their three children Michael, Colleen (Orr) and Patrick, as well as seven grandchildren.
Bud served as a Marine for four years during the Korean War. Afterwards, he obtained an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Missouri that launched his career as a field service engineer in the defense industry, developing the Lockheed C-5A and other aircraft. He went on to pursue a highly-successful career as a control systems engineer in the aerospace industry for Honeywell Space Systems in Minneapolis, Minnesota and in Clearwater, Florida. For three decades, he worked on the Apollo program and the design of the Space Shuttle.
He later obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of South Florida and helped design the International Space Station before retiring in 1993.
He will be greatly missed by those closest to him, who will always appreciate his dedication to family and home.
