After attending college in Tahlaquah, OK, he moved his young family to Orlando, FL, where he worked for McDonnell Douglas. In 1964, they moved to Titusville and Bill began his 30-year career at KSC, working for TWA and Lockheed, retiring in 1994.
He lived the type of life he desired; quiet and simple, holding close to him those he loved. His family and friends will always remember him for his kindness and wit. He enjoyed many hobbies including woodcarving, painting, metal detecting, reading, traveling, and rooting for Florida Gators. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family. While he preferred the solitary life, he was happiest when family members were present.
A beloved husband, father, step-father, grandfather, brother and uncle, he leaves behind his wife of 24 years, June; and his son, Mike, of Rockledge; his son, Tim (fiancée, Becky) of Colorado; step-son, Tom Snider (wife, Julie) of Rockledge; step-daughter, Dana Whitson of Port St. John; grandchildren, Bradley Snider, US Navy, Scott Harris, Colorado, Kiersten and Keeley Whitson, Port St. John, Kylie Snider and Aaron Rood, Rockledge; and brother, John, of Kissimmee. He was preceded in death by his son, Pat Harris; and his brother, Jim Harris (fiancée, Julie Sutherland).
The family would like to thank Bill and June's many friends and extended family for all the love and support given over the years. Their prayers have meant so much. In addition, we appreciate the many doctors and nurses who have cared for Bill and those who helped make him comfortable during the final stages of his life.
A Celebration of Life service was held on Saturday, June 15.
