Cecile was born in Middletown, CT to Annette (Bellerive) and Ernest Brousseau on April 4, 1940. She grew up with 8 brothers and sisters in Columbia, CT. Her father passed away when she was 10 years old, and she helped support her family throughout her teenage years. She married her sweetheart, Richard Vordermark (1932-2008) on September 1, 1962 and lived wherever the US Air Force stationed them – New Mexico, Colorado, New York, Florida, England and Louisiana. She committed her life to her family, her career as a realtor and serving others through her church and community organizations. Her proudest moments were in the projects that raised funds for American Cancer Society, her church and underprivileged children. Having finally retired, she and Richard moved from Alexandria, LA to Titusville, FL to spend more time enjoying their three grandchildren and playing golf. Most recently, Cecile lived in Merritt Island, FL with her family. Having completed her journey, Cecile started her heavenly life on August 1, 2020.
Left behind to appreciate her legacy are her brother, Philip Brousseau, her sister, Suzanne (Brousseau) Butterfield, her daughter, Debbie (Vordermark) Wells, her granddaughter, Rebecca Crawford and two grandsons, Zachary and Noah Wells. In addition, Cecile will be missed by the Friday night dominoes ladies, her friends at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Titusville and so many more from Louisiana. Crucial to her life in recent years were Jennifer McDonald, RN and Kristina Dollard, CNA.
Cecile loved to cook and host special gatherings. She was famous for her cheese ball during the holidays – a recipe handed down from her mother-in-law. Her grandson, Noah, always looked forward to dinner at Grandma’s as long as white rice cooked in a double-boiler and topped with butter was on the menu!
Her Catholic faith was key to her character – we find comfort in believing she rests in heaven with God where she can intercede on our behalf as we continue our earthly journey.
Visitation is planned for Friday, August 14 from 6P to 8P at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home on Merritt Island. Guests must wear a mask and social distance.
