Claude C. Williams, 86 of Merritt Island, FL passed away on Monday July 29, 2019. He was born and raised in Florida. He attended Rockledge Presbyterian Church since 1976 when he married his wife Barbara Joy who passed away in 2016. He coached many in our community on the Little League field and taught countless young people to water ski. He was an avid fisherman and loved being in nature. In his later years he shared that love with his youngest grandchildren teaching them to water plants and feed the birds. We are quite sure the fattest birds in Brevard County reside in our yard. Claude served in the Air Force for 4 years and then graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Insurance. He was successful in his career retiring from Sentry Insurance and always known for his honesty in sales. He told it as it was and was a man of integrity.

He and his wife met at a Seminole Boosters Alumni event and spent many weekends in their life together cheering for the Seminoles. He was always wearing an FSU hat, jacket or in his later days an FSU cane given to him by his son and family.

He didn't like too much attention. He didn't like to talk too much about himself, he was humble. He was the kindest, most thoughtful man. In High School he worked hard, played football and worked at a store in town. Often friends in the town would wait til closing to offer a ride home so he wouldn't have to walk.

He loved his family fiercely. His children and grandchildren benefited from the amazing relationships that he developed throughout their lives. He was a really good friend. He loved doing things for others. Claude is survived by his son, Greg Williams (Tonya); daughter, Kristi Joy Porter (Richard); grandchildren: Michael Williams, James Williams (Lauren), Traci Williams, Addisyn Joy Porter, and Jericho Porter; three siblings: Herman Williams, Earl Williams(Kay), and Betty Henderson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Rockledge Presbyterian Church. A visitation will be held Friday, August 9, 2019 from 6-8pm at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held at Rockledge Presbyterian Church on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 1pm with Internment to follow at Florida Memorial Gardens.

Memories of my teen years are filled with the friendship and guidance from Claude. He gave me many life lessons, as well as much deserved scoldings. In addition, he always made sure his '66 Chevy Nova was available for me, so I could take a girlfriend out... In my later years, many of those life lessons have flooded back into my mind to give me success. I am honored and grateful for the chance to have spent valuable time with him and I look forward to being with him in Heaven. Thank you Claude.

Absolutely one of the nicest people I have ever known and a gentleman by every definition. I always enjoyed talking to him (and learning from him) about many things but especially his beloved FSU football.. He will be missed by many who knew and loved him.

Hi IAM Anthony, Mr Williams was like a father to me,he gave me guidance as a young man when I didn't want it but once the seed is planted and nurturied and loved it don't matter if you except it or not it's going to happen,as I got older and realized love has no color or boundaries and I was accepted as one of his family members I was able to show that love back as a family member to Mr. and Mrs Williams thanks Greg and Kristi and Richard I love you guys Anthony Griffin

Whenever I saw him I would give him a hug he and I had a special relationship. If I did not see him he would say aren't you going to come over and give me a hug and say hi. I loved him very much and his family also.
