Dan was born on October 27, 1964, to Violet Virginia Scott & Robert Dysinger Wall in Lockport, NY. Dan graduated from Lockport High School in 1982 and joined the US ARMY. He became a Russian linguist and was stationed at Field Station Berlin, Germany, Ft Polk, Louisiana and Ft Hood, Texas.
After leaving the US ARMY Dan obtained his bachelor’s degree in nursing and became a Registered Nurse. Feeling the call to duty after 9/11, Dan returned to the US ARMY as a commissioned officer. Dan reached the rank of MAJ before retiring after 23 years of service, having completed his last duty stations at the Institute of Surgical Research (burn Center) in San Antonio, Texas, Ft Hood, Texas, including a 1-year tour in Afghanistan and finally Ft Gordon, Georgia.
Dan was a compassionate and resolute burn nurse caring for injured soldiers during Iraqi Freedom; Operation New Dawn; and Operation Enduring Freedom. Dan received the Bronze Star medal for his service in Afghanistan.
Dan met the love of his life, Rene in 2005 in San Antonio, Texas and married in 2011 in Salado, Texas. Dan was a proud father of two sons, Brian Andrew Wall, and William Robert Hurst Wall.
In 2017 Dan retired to Merritt Island, Florida and spent his retirement boating, fishing, enjoying time with friends and “Livin’ the Dream.”
Dan was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Scott Wall. Dan is survived by his wife Rene Hurst-Wall, sons Brian and William Wall, sisters Lenora Ann Dodge, Vickie-Lee Wall, and brother John Roger Wall. Additionally, Dan is survived by a great number of nieces, nephews, and extended family that he loved dearly.
He gave the ultimate gift of organ donation with one kidney going to a recipient at Walter Reed and one to a recipient in Florida.
