

She is survived by her nephew, Gareth and wife, Carmen, who were her Faithful caregivers, of Merritt Island; nieces, Sherry House and Anita Morris; nephews, Larry Matthews, Trent Matthews and Lee Goodner.
She moved to Florida in 1977. Dottie graduated from Central High School in Chattanooga, TN and went on to attend the University of TN, in Nashville.
She was a Life-time Member of the Lions Club, Co-founder of the Brevard Council of the Blind, where she served a Secretary/Treasurer for over 20 years. She and her husband, Bill, (predeceased) attended meetings of The American Council of the Blind, where Bill was on the board. Dorothy received the "Just Bill Award" in 2006, for her accomplishments. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church on Merritt Island, Dottie loved to write poetry.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, March 8, 2012, from 2 to 3 pm, followed by service at 3 PM, at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens.
