Elizabeth Beatrice Myers, a devout Christian of Merritt Island, Florida went home to be with the Lord at the age of 98 on Wednesday April 24, 2019. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her and gave her peace. She was born on August 19, 1920 in Easton, Pennsylvania to John and Esther Miller. She married the love of her life, Paul E. Myers in 1941, who preceded her in death in 2003. They were married for 62 wonderful years.
Elizabeth was blessed with a very loving family. She is the loving & devoted Mother of daughter, Patricia Smith, and husband, Sterling, and daughter, Barbara Boccuzzi, and husband, Joseph. Nana to 4 grandchildren: Pamela Poland, and husband Brian, Scott Smith, and wife Alena, Sara Root, and husband Robert, and Amy Lasky, and husband Michael. Grandnana to 7 great-grandchildren: Scott Smith, Robert Root, Sterling Root, Sophia Lasky, Olivia Root, Michael Lasky, Marshall Root.
Elizabeth, known to most as (Betty) had a true passion for life, a vivacious personality and always made people around her smile and laugh. She made friends everywhere she went. In her earlier years she worked at her father's storage business and taught Sunday school at her family church in Easton, PA. Betty moved to Clearwater, Florida in 1989 where she became an active member of Heritage United Methodist Church. Then in later years joined St. Paul United Methodist Church in Largo, FL. where she was a faithful member of their Prayer Shawl Ministry group. In October 2018 she moved to Courtenay Springs Village in Merritt Island, FL. and became a member of the Heavenly Handmade Prayer Shawl group at Merritt Island Presbyterian Church. Betty loved spending time with her family, being active in church activities, golf, knitting, antique dolls, Facebook, Spider Solitaire and traveling.
A celebration of life worship service for Betty will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Merritt Island Presbyterian Church, 600 S. Tropical Trail, Merritt Island, Florida 32952. An interment service will be held on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park Cemetery, 2853 Sunset Point Rd., Clearwater, Florida 33759.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Merritt Island Presbyterian Church.
