Katherine "Ellen" Shaffer Landers, 89, of Merritt Island, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, friend, and caregiver who dedicated her life to serving others with kindness and compassion.
Ellen was preceded in death by her loving husband, James “Buddy” Edward Landers, as well as her siblings Frank Shaffer, Earl Burley, and Martha Young. She is survived by her devoted sons, Carl Landers and Michael Landers, along with Michael’s wife, Susana Landers.
A talented seamstress and a dedicated nurse, Ellen spent her career caring for children and women in need, specializing in pediatrics and women’s health. Her gentle touch and compassionate heart left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Beyond her profession, she was a pillar of her community, known for her generosity, warmth, and unwavering faith. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Cocoa Beach, where she found great joy in worship and fellowship.
Ellen will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her selflessness and devotion to others will remain an enduring legacy.
A internment ceremony will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Cocoa Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to First United Methodist of Cocoa Beach‘s Prayer Garden.
May she rest in peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
