Bob and I have known Elsie since 1971, when we moved to Merritt Island. She was a school zone crossing guard at that time, and I used to watch her from my kitchen window escorting children across busy South Tropical Trail. She worked for many years, patiently helping the children across the busy street through all kinds of weather. She was there during the steamy hot days before the school year ended and when the new school year started. She carried a large umbrella to keep everyone dry during our frequent rainstorms, and she spoke up when a speeding driver came down the Trail way too fast!!! We knew her as a sweet, gentle mother who was always close to her children and grandson. She sometimes baked us treats during the Christmas Holidays and was there for us when our eldest son Rob passed away. Even though we were neighbors, life and work kept us from many visits, but she will always be remembered as a kind and gentle soul! Our sympathies and prayers go out to her family. She was a wonderful Mother to Joey and I, and a great Grandma to Sam. She gave all of us such happy childhoods.
Always placing us before herself. It has been a long goodbye. Our hearts are broken from this loss. We will miss her everyday forward for as long as we shall live. For then, we will be re-united together again. We miss you so much Mom.

We loved the times we shared on Halloween. Spending time sitting and talking and seeing the little kids dressed up. Always a great time of sharing together. Elsie as a crossing guard was an encouragement to the school kids and loved each one. They all looked forward to seeing her and saying hi as they started their day. A wonderful artist and very creative with sketches and creating stained glass art. She also was in love with the Lord and showed that in all she did and how she interacted with everyone she met. A wonderful woman, a wonderful neighbor. She will be missed by all.
