She was born to Cuthbert and Mary Burkett on November 14, 1926. After graduating high school she met her husband Harold. He served in the armed forces which allowed them to travel the world together. They had two children: John and Joe. You could often find Gladys at church or spending time with her friends in her special gatherings group. She was an avid dancer and was often doing a jig or shaking a leg to 50’s and 60’s music. Her greatest joy however was being a mother. She loved her boys! She took pride in caring for them and many times several of their friends as well. A memorial service is scheduled for 2pm on Tuesday, February 15th at Wylie Baxley Funeral Home, 1360 N.
