

Jacquelyn “Jacque” Thaden of Merritt Island, Florida, age 65, passed away on September 13, 2012 after a three year battle with ovarian cancer. Jacque was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and was raised in Rudyard, Michigan. Jacque was the first of five children born to Clifford and Faye Postma of Rudyard. She was raised on a dairy farm in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and attended school in a one room schoolhouse through the sixth grade. She subsequently attended public schools and graduated from Rudyard High School in 1964.
Jacque attended Western Michigan University and graduated from there in 1968. Jacque moved to Florida in 1970 with her husband Thomas and began teaching in the Brevard County Public School System that same year. At various times over the next thirty years Jacque taught at Kennedy Middle School, Poinsett (now McNair) Middle School, and Merritt Island High School. She retired from public school teaching in 2000. Jacque was also a former WENDI and GED instructor in Brevard County.
Jacque was the founder and initial president of Citizens for Responsible Government, a 1980’s political research and educational organization. She was also a member of the Brevard County Library Board, an Associate Producer for WTGL Channel 52, and an Aglow chapter officer.
Jacque was preceded in death by her father Clifford Postma and her brother Dale Postma. She is survived by her mother Faye Postma, sisters Barb Bosscher and Sherry Loxton, brother Ralph Postma, husband Thomas Thaden, son Shannon Thaden, daughter Darby Carey, grandchildren Annabelle Carey and Beckham Carey, son-in-law James Carey, and daughter-in-law Macy Thaden.
Jacque accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was a young girl and remained committed to her beliefs throughout her life. It is her family’s belief that Jacque is now in Heaven praising and worshipping her Lord.
Jacque was a sweet, lovely soul and will be greatly missed by her family and many, many friends. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on September 22, 2012 at East Coast Christian Center in Merritt Island.
