Jinny Reed, 89, passed away Tuesday July 9, 2013 at her home. Jinny was born on August 4, 1923 in New Haven, Connecticut.
She moved to Brevard County in 1957 with her first husband Irv Braun and co-founded WEZY Radio Station. She did the Missile Reporting for the station until 1962 when she opened Jinny’s Fashionably Yours, a women’s apparel shop. She sold the shop in 1984 and retired to sail with her husband Jim Reed, square dance, play golf and tennis, do stained glass work and many kinds of needlework. Jinny was also a world traveler.
Mrs. Reed was a member of the Eastern Star; North Brevard Shrine; Brevard County Dog Training Club; Habitat for Humanity and a volunteer with the King Center.
Jinny was preceded in death by her husband James V. Reed; son Edward S. Braun; sisters Theresa D’Angelo and Millie Ogan.
Survivors include her son Michael Braun(Winnie); daughter Donna Riley(Steve); two grandchildren Matt Riley(Jacque) and Kim Riley Mills(Kyle).
A Celebration of Jinny’s Life will be held Sunday July 28, 2013, from 1:00-3:30PM, at the Tides Collocated Club, 1001 South Hwy. A1A, Patrick AFB, FL. 32925.
