Jon E. Revaz (Jack), age 84, died on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at his home on Quail Lane, Merritt Island, Florida. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret (Peggy) Sheridan and four children: Thomas (Veronica) Myrtle Beach, SC., Robert (Yami) Costa Rica, Mark (Theresa) Buena Vista, NM. and Marsha Magnussen (Chris) Waimanalo, HI. Grandpa Jack will be missed by his seven grandchildren and two great granddaughters, along with his sister, Karen Mackenzie (Ken) of Newtown, CT and brother, Keith Revaz (Rosalie) of Wakefield, RI and many nieces, cousins and nephews.
He was born in Torrington, CT and raised in neighboring Harwinton, CT, where he attended a one-room school house for his elementary education and then moved on to Torrington High School where he graduated in 1955. In 1956, he entered the US Army under an eight-year Active Duty/Reserve Program and married Peggy in 1958. The couple lived in Winsted, CT for twenty-five years where they raised their family. Jack worked as a machinist and, for 10 years, was employed at the J.M. Ney Company (now Ney-Derringer) Bloomfield, CT and worked with precious metal in the wire/plate dept.
Jack and Peggy relocated to Cocoa Beach, FL in 1988 where he opened/operated Jack’s Lawn Service. He worked independently for twenty five years serving his customers in Cocoa Beach and Merritt Island. He was an active member of the First Christian Church, Cocoa Beach and quickly developed a heart for the mission programs as well as stand downs for the local veterans. He was an avid recreational fisherman, had a “green thumb” for plants, a love for birds and nature, and enjoyed the opportunity to travel and cruise. He counted his many blessings regularly and often stated how fortunate he was to have lived a great life. Heartfelt thanks are sent to the Health First Cancer Institute (Cone Rd., M.I) for their care/treatment of myelofibrosis, as well as the nursing staffs at Cape Canaveral Hospital and the Viera Infusion Unit (for the many transfusions), along with Health First Hospice for guiding/providing comfort in his final two days at home. A memorial celebration of his life will be held at the First Christian Church, Cocoa Beach, on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at 12 noon. Contributions may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
