Laura Auad KOTAS
November 20, 1926 – March 10, 2020
Laura Auad Kotas passed away peacefully on March 10, 2020 at age 93 in Cocoa Beach, FL. She is survived by her favorite daughter Lauren, and her son-in-law Malcolm Brand. Laura loved being with her grandchildren Jamie, Andrea and Neil and her six great-grandchildren, Sam, Mae, Freya, Nate, Cordelia and Felicia. Nieces and nephews dearest to Laura were Martha, Mary, Walt, Lisa, Jim, Scottie, Melissa, Paul, Mary, Mary Kay, David, Frank, Jeff and Joe. Born in Buffalo, NY, her heart has always been with St. John Maron Church in Williamsville, NY where she had served as President of the Altar and Rosary Society.
All her life, Laura valued her independence and felt most alive when traveling. She never hesitated to get up and go, whether it be alone or with others. She was fearless in many ways, yet conformed to become an elegant lady with her own style. Her family sent her to secretarial school during WWII, dashing her hopes of having a very different career. She captured this disappointment as a life lesson and instilled into her daughter a strong value of following your dreams.
Her family wishes to thank the medical professionals at Cape Canaveral Hospital, Solaris Rehab in Merritt Island and Hospice at Cape Canaveral Hospital for caring about Laura as a person and for the care you provided. Laura’s wish was for those she knew to remember her the last time you saw her. In lieu of a wake or funeral service, a celebration will be held in Buffalo, NY this Summer. She will be interred next to her beloved husband, Stan, at Elmlawn Cemetery, Tonawanda, NY.
