Port St. John
Londy G. Griffin of Port St. John, FL, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012.
On the 21st day of April in 1933, in Monroe Michigan, a handsome little boy was born into the family of Frank and Pearl Griffin. He was named Londy, "George or L.G." to his family and friends. He grew up with 4 brothers and 2 sisters he loved dearly.
Londy came to Brevard County after serving in the Navy on the USS Wren for 4 years. He then became employed at McDonnell Douglas/Boeing for 38 years.
After retiring, he could be found walking, riding his bike, or swimming to stay fit. He loved tinkering in his work shop and took great pride in having a nice yard. He was an avid football fan. During football season he could always be found cheering on his son and then his grandsons at their football games or watching his favorite college or pro team at home on TV.
Not a day went by that he didn't pick up the phone to check in on his daughter. On most Friday afternoons, he could be found at Jabbers with his son-in-law indulging in his love of hamburgers, fries and chocolate cake. He loved his family, they were his life.
He was also actively involved with his MDAC/KSC retirement club, Lincoln Jr/Senior High reunions and his Navy reunions.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gertrude. Mr. Griffin is survived by his daughter, Melissa Griffin Stasio; his son-in-law, Antony Stasio; his son, Chris
Griffin, 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, his brother, Ralph Griffin; sisters, Avis Stanifer and MaryLou Hatfield; and his loyal grand dogs, Duke and Dudley.
Special thanks goes to Lorna Edwards at Open Arms with Love and Vitas Hospice for loving my Dad and taking care of him just like he was part of their family.
He was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, November 24, 2012, from 3-5 PM, at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home Chapel, Merritt Island, followed by a Celebration of Life on Sunday November 25, 2012, at 1 PM, in the Funeral Home Chapel.
