Mary D Gavek

April 12, 1951 – July 16, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mary (Davis) Gavek, a loving wife, cherished stepmother and grandmother, beloved teacher, faithful servant of her church, and a true and loyal friend.

Born on April 12, 1951, Mary dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting others — both in the classroom and in her community. She was a deeply respected kindergarten teacher whose kindness, patience, and creativity left a lasting impact on every child she taught.

Mary’s faith was a guiding force in her life. She was a longtime, active member of her church community and served humbly as a Eucharistic Minister, finding great joy and purpose in sharing her love of God with others.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Raymond Gavek, whose love and care were unwavering. Mary was preceded in death by her stepson Brent Gavek, and will be lovingly remembered by her surviving stepchildren, Jason Gavek and Heather Gavek; and her step-grandchildren, Tianna Mathis, Malik Gavek, and Jaxson Gavek. She also leaves behind her beloved ‘baby’ brother Peter and sister-in-law Rose Davis, who held a special place in her heart.

Mary’s memory will live on in the countless lives she touched — through her gentle spirit, her selfless service, and the love she gave so freely.
