

One of nine children, she was born in 1922 in Ortona, FL to parents Will and Veda Carlton Surrency.
Having moved to Merritt Island in 1961 from Winter Haven, she postponed her desire for a career choosing instead to be a stay-at-home mom until her children finished school. She then pursued her life-long interest and passion in real estate and was a successful real estate investor.
Miriam was a 52 year member of First Baptist Church of Merritt Island having been an active Sunday School teacher for many years
.
She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Darrel Curtis. She is survived by her sister Billie Eisele (Horace) of NC; brother Buck (June, deceased) Surrency of Ft. Pierce; daughters Sharon (Charles) Hoyle of Mims; Donna Curtis of St. Augustine; and Cynthia Curtis (Marvin Barmore ) of Leesburg; grandson Charles Hoyle, Jr. (Dawn), Mims; granddaughter Tricia Hoyle, Mims, and family dog, June Bear.
Calling hours will begin at 10AM followed by services at 11AM on Tuesday September 3, 2013 at Wylie-Baxley Merritt Island Funeral Home. Interment will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Titusville.
