

Miriam Sue Green Griggs, 81, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 12, 2025. She passed away peacefully at VITAS Hospice in Rockledge, Florida in the presence of her family.
She was born in Bradenton, Florida on November 30, 1943 to T. J. and Zoe May Thompson Green. After graduating from Manatee County High School, she attended Florida State University where she earned a degree in Foreign Language Education with a major in Spanish. She taught Spanish at Walker Junior High School for two years before moving to Brevard County where she taught third grade at Fairglen Elementary School. After returning to FSU for three summers, she earned certification as a media specialist and spent the rest of her 39 year career in the library in turn at Fairglen Elementary, Rockledge Elementary, Clearlake Middle School and Suntree Elementary.
She was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Fidelis Pi sorority while teaching and after retiring where she held various offices. This organization supports professional educators and students who are preparing to become teachers through scholarships, grants, and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Miriam was a member off several churches during her lifetime- most recently Faith Presbyterian Church where she worshiped and where she and her team organized social activities such as fellowship meals, baby and wedding showers and spiritually motivating speakers.
Miriam was predeceased by her parents, T. J. and Zoa Green, her husband’s parents, Henry Aulton and Ida Louise Griggs, Sr., and her brother-in-law, William E. Griggs (Pj.) She is survived by her husband, Henry (Hank) A. Griggs, Jr., her son, Jason Alan Griggs (Alana), her sisters, Frances (Gene) Hancock and Shirley (Dewey) Harris, her sisters-in-law, Bonnie Clark, Evelyn Griggs and Pj Wamble, four grandchildren, Alexander Stephen Griggs, Byron James Griggs, Jeramie Scott Britt and Calvin Klein, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held for Miriam on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Faith Presbyterian Church, 1900 South Tropical Trail, Merritt Island, FL 32952. Visitation 10:00 - 11:00. The service will begin at 11:00. A luncheon will be held after the service in the fellowship hall behind the church.
