Surviving her are their three sons, Paul Thompson (Mindy), Scott Thompson, and Gregg Thompson (Kimberly). Nancy is also survived by four grandchildren- Abbey, Eric, Sara, and Neal who are scattered from South Florida to California.
Nancy Jean Moss was born in Chicago, Illinois to Juanita and Chuck Moss on April 7, 1934. She met Fritz in Ponte Vedra, Florida and they were married June 22, 1955 as he finished medical school at Emory University. They then lived in Washington, D.C. until 1963 while he finished his training; this was interrupted for two years that they spent in Germany while Fritz served as an Army surgeon.
Nancy and Fritz moved to Rockledge in 1963 to begin Fritz’s surgical practice. Nancy was key in guiding the educations of her three sons and was very proud of all of them. She and Fritz were active in the local jazz community and loved traveling by car, especially to their favorite vacation spot which was Seaside, Florida. In their later years, they enjoyed eating out with friends and visiting with their family.
The family would like to thank the Vitas Hospice team and especially the kind and caring staff at the Alura Memory Care Unit for all that they did for Nancy and Fritz during the last year of their lives.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
A small graveside ceremony will take place at Georgiana Cemetery on Friday, April 7, at 11 am.
