Ramona Sue Tillen

Ramona Sue Tillen was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on November 21, 1944 to Ruby. She lived in a log cabin in “the holler” as a young child. She then lived with her Grandparents Ory and Flossie Murray until she was 21. She then moved to Detroit to live with her Mother and begin her first jobs.

She worked at Hite photo where she met Judith Tillen, Carl Tillen’s sister. Judith would be the catalyst for Sue and Carl’s long marriage. Sue and Carl met on a blind date set up by Judy. They were married in November 1968. Sue went on to work in insurance billing at Ford Hospital in Detroit after getting married. In November 1975 Sue and Carl’s only child Sarah would be born.

In 1978 they moved to Merritt Island, Florida. After raising Sarah through her early teen years, Sue went to work at JCPenny's. She would spend 18 years as a successful Sales Associate. After retiring from JCPenny, Sue and Carl would take trips together around the country. Once staying gone for 61 days! They drove 11,000 miles!

Sue loved to paint, sculpt and make jewelry. She also loved to attend clogging events with Carl.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years Carl Tillen and her daughter Sarah MacFarlane.

Visitation is scheduled for November 7, 2025, 9am at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home, 1360 N. Courtenay Parkway, Merritt Island, FL. with Funeral services to follow at 10am. Committal Service will be at 1:30pm at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery 5525 US Hwy. 1, Mims, FL on the same day.
