

Rebecca Yandre - Merritt Island - Rebecca Rubio Yandre passed to her Lord on Saturday, April 10, 2010 after a courageous 16 month fight against cancer. She was born to her late parents, Alfredo and Leonora Rubio on May 13, 1945 in Panda can, Manila, Philippines. She was the oldest of seven siblings. She moved to the United States in December 1975. She was married on Valentines Day 1976 to her husband, Stan and settled in Merritt Island, FL. Becky gave birth to three loving sons, Raymond, born 1968, deceased in 1989, Thomas, born in 1977, now living and working in Houston, TX, and Michael, born in 1983 now living and working in Jacksonville, FL. Becky and Stan were married for 34 loving and wonderful years. Her sons were the reason for her life. She enjoyed watching them play soccer all over the state. She was an avid reader with particular interest in ancient Egyptian culture. Her other joys included shopping, fishing, and cooking with her family. Joining her on Merritt Island were her sister and brother-in-law, Melanie and John Carr and their daughter Michelle. Her brother, Alfredo resides in Cocoa Beach and his friend, Barbara DeCourte lives in Rockledge. A nephew, William Waite, lives on Merritt Island with his girl friend, Ashley Hackett. In the Philippines are a sister, Eliza, with a family, and two brothers, Rizaldy and Reynario, both with families. Becky is also survived by her mother-in-law in Orlando, Mary Jane Kany and her husband, Robert. Starting in 1979 she worked continuously for the Brevard County Library system as an inventory clerk, front desk, and circulation supervisor at the Merritt Island Public Library. At the Central Library in Cocoa she headed Homebound Services. She closed her 31 year career at the Palm Bay Library as a technical processor. She also worked at BJ's Wholesale Club, Merritt Island, since 2000, as the loss prevention checker at the front door. She will be remembered as a strong, determined, woman and sweet and elegant lady. She loved her sons with all her heart and her husband Stan. Her family will always love her and miss her forever. Calling hours are 5-8 PM Wednesday, April 14th at Wylie-Baxley Merritt Island Funeral Home. Services will be held 1 PM Thursday, April 15th at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL.
