September 21, 1952 – October 28, 2025
Richard “Rick” Hefley, a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and faithful follower of Christ, passed away peacefully at his home in Merritt Island, Florida, at the age of 73. Born on September 21, 1952, in Santa Barbara, California, Rick’s life was a testament to faith, perseverance, love, and devotion to family.
After moving to Florida, Rick put down roots in Brevard County, where he became a respected business owner and a trusted friend to many. Since 1985, he has owned and operated several successful businesses in the area, serving his community with integrity, kindness, and unwavering dedication. He believed in hard work and in doing everything “as unto the Lord,” a value that shaped both his career and his personal life. Rick was a man who never let obstacles stand in his way. He faced life’s challenges with courage and faith, believing deeply that God had a plan for every moment. He was known for his strength, his honesty, and his generous heart. Rick always went out of his way to help others—whether lending a hand to a neighbor, offering guidance to a friend, or providing his family without hesitation.
Rick’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was a strong believer in Jesus Christ and led his family with grace and conviction. He was always quick to remind those around him of God’s love and the importance of walking in faith. His quiet strength and steadfast belief were an inspiration to everyone who knew him. Rick lived his life as a servant of the Lord, sharing his testimony through his actions, his kindness, and the way he loved people. His family was at the very heart of Rick’s life. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Laurie, with whom he shared 55 beautiful years of marriage. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and faith. Their love story was one of true devotion and partnership, and those who knew them saw how deeply they cared for one another. After Laurie’s passing just three short months ago, Rick found comfort in his faith, trusting that they would one day be reunited in Heaven. Now, that reunion has come to pass.
Rick is survived by his loving parents, Ronald and Doris Stone; his brother, Steve Hefley, and sister-in-law, Patricia Hefley; and his beloved children, Tina Lee, (Joe Lee), Eric Hefley, Lisa Springer, Sara Mace, and (Thomas Mace) He also leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren—Joey, Amanda, Madison, Chris, Kaitlyn, Chris, Tristan, Trevor, Tyler, Jessica, Alex, and Ace—and his great-grandchildren, Joseph, Emory, Riley, Raiden, Aaliyah, and Elliot.
Though Rick’s passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who loved him, his family takes comfort in knowing he has gone home to be with his Savior and his beloved wife, Laurie. His legacy of love, faith, and perseverance will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, and all those whose lives he touched.
A Celebration of Rick’s life will be held at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home in Merritt Island, FL on November 22nd at 11:00 AM
John 14:1-3: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God: believe also in me. My Father’s house had many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
