He received an Associate Degree at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Community College. He also received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering at Florida A & M. He then started his long career for Bendix Engineering in Kaui, Hawaii. He continued his ongoing career with Boeing Aerospace Company as Chief Engineer for over 35 years with over 200 successful space launches.
Richard was an Army Veteran Sergeant working as an Airborne Ranger training around the world to include South Korea and Vietnam. He also did some work doing soil testing for bridges and roads in many places such as, the East Coast of USA, England, France, Spain, Italy, Romania and Yugoslavia.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 51 years and childhood sweetheart, Brenda Mehalik and his very loved son, Michael Andrew Mehalick; both reside in Merritt Island, Florida.
