Robert Gordon Buddy "Bob" "Buddy" Batchelor

Robert Gordon Batchelor “Bob”, known to his family as “Buddy”, age 51, of Brevard County, FL, born in Prince George County, MD passed away August 22, 2014. He is the beloved father of Christopher Batchelor, son of Elizabeth Batchelor, brother of Lyn Smetana Lindeman, Debbie Jansto, Maria Crowningshield, Katrina Wilson, and fiancée of Marla Berberian. He was a devoted uncle to Pete, Mike, Nicole, Katie, Nathan, Cody, Lexie, Matthew, Charles, Amelia, Curtis, and Viktor. He was employed by SG Technologies, Inc. with a long history of working on NASA projects. He served in the US Navy on the USS Independence. As a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University he earned a BS in Professional Aeronautics. His philanthropic work benefited many organizations and earned him multiple awards, with the Jefferson Award from the State of Florida and the Volunteer of the Year Award from Sculptor Charter School as his most cherished. He was the President of the Merritt Island Breakfast Rotary Club, Board Secretary of Brevard Innovative Charter Schools, Sculptor Charter School, and Vice Chair of National Defense Industrial Association. He was an avid motorcycle rider and member of the Jupiter Diving Club. He loved diving with his son Chris, his best buddy. He and Marla enjoyed the outdoors and you could find them glamping or kayaking. He leaves behind many friends and family whose lives he touched with his genuine smile and giving heart.

A funeral service will be held Saturday August 30th, 2014 at 11a.m. with visitation at 10 a.m at the Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home 1360 N. Courtenay Parkway Merritt Island, FL.
