Rosa was our mom, grandmother, great grandmother…our Abuela. She was a blessing to everyone in our family. Family was the most important thing to her, her family here in the United States and her family in Spain. Her laugh was infectious. Mom always loved a gathering and was the life of the party. Many times she would get the whole room laughing until we were just laughing at each other’s laughter, and no one remembered why we started laughing in the first place!
She was once a member of the U.S. Olympic shopping team. She could shop for hours, and then we played “Guess how much I paid for this?” when she returned. She would rather come home with nothing, which she did many times, than pay too much for an item. It would go on sale or clearance eventually, and her patience would endure. Shopping was a game; the thrill was in the hunt! She enjoyed the social aspect just as much as the shopping. She loved to look for things for her children and grandchildren more than for herself.
Mom was an excellent cook, the kitchen was her domain. Only the bravest dared to enter when she was cooking. She loved to feed us and always wanted to know if we were hungry or if we wanted a “sweet”. She was also a proficient seamstress. She learned from her sisters growing up in Spain. Together, they made many beautiful dresses.
Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our Mom and Abuela, but we are comforted when we remember her smile, her laugh and the way she loved us all. We know we will see you again in heaven, until then, we will miss you very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Concha, Mary, Basi, Eugenia, Uchi, and brother Antonio. She is survived by her son David Parsons, her daughter Patty and husband John Snorf; granddaughters Elisa and husband Dan Harrell, Marisa and husband Drake Tingley, Jackie and husband Brendan Burgess; great-granddaughters Leighton, Laina, Addison and Sullivan; and sisters Celie, Estrella y Pili; and many nieces and nephews.
We love you, guapa. La mas hermosa de Sevilla
