

Stanley E. Finestone, 90, of Cape Canaveral, FL., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015. He was born in Shepperton, England on October 23, 1924. Stan joined the Royal Air Force in 1940, and became a fighter pilot at age sixteen. He fought in the Battle of Britain during World War II. He lived in Canada for several years in the late 1950’s, and then moved to South Florida. There he met the love of his life, Lois Ricke, a widow with six children. They married, and spent fifty-three years together. Professionally, Stan worked for several large restaurant companies, heading up their construction divisions. He built for Burger King, Ponderosa, Chi-Chi's, Darden and Charlie Brown’s to name a few. He loved the mountains of North Carolina, and he and Lois spent many summers on their beloved mountain, in Burnsville, NC. He loved to play golf, and spent winters in Auburndale, FL playing. Stan and Lois moved to Cape Canaveral, FL in spring of 2014, where they both enjoyed spending time looking out at the beach and watching the cruise ships arrive and depart from the port. He is survived by his wife Lois, and five children, Linda Munkeby (Jack), Barbara Deschenes (Pierre), Tom Ricke, Joe Ricke, and Betsy Singer (Alan); twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Rose and Elsie of England. A memorial service will be held in Auburndale, FL at the Hamptons Clubhouse, on Saturday, January 31st at 2:00pm.
