Obituary of Timothy C Jurek
Timothy C Jurek, age 66, of Merritt Island, Florida passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Cape Canaveral Hospital. He was born in Meriden, CT, to Walter and Dorothy Jurek. Timothy was educated in Meriden schools and was a graduate of The Connecticut State Police Academy For more than 20 years he served with recognition as a Police Officer with the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services primarily at Whiting Forensic Institute. Following retirement, he also worked in security for many years with The Washington Nationals Baseball team during Spring training. Timothy was a rabid sports fan, Green Bay Packers stockholder, Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriot fan, as well as a faithful Boston Red Sox loyalist. He acquired a Bronze award with the American Cribbage Congress. He was the Director of local club , The Space Coast Peggers 336. He traveled the country playing in many cribbage tournaments over the years since 2007. He and his wife traveled throughout the country and the world, particularly, South America through cruises and other means. Timothy had been a life member of the B.P.O.E., a Moose,Eagle, and was a Polish Falcon. He served in many positions with these fraternal organizations and was a Loyal volunteer with all of them. He was also active in the CSEA retirement union,serving as the local 427 chapter in Florida as its treasurer in recent years. He is survived by his loving wife, Martha (Markowski) Jurek of 42 years; his loving son, David Edward Jurek; his sister Nancy Kiel; many nieces ( Leslie, Meghan, Mary, Adrienne, Jennifer, Rebecca, and Meredith ) and Nephew John; and many friends who will miss him terribly. He is predeceased by his parents and his big brother Martin Jurek. His family would like to thank our “Dear Friends” who will all miss this kind, loyal and generous, fun loving and gregarious family man who loved us all very deeply. A mass of Christian burial will be held on September 24, at St.Mary of Częstochowa Church in Middletown,CT.
