February 14, 1948 – November 4, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Yolanda Ponce Acosta, who died peacefully Tuesday, November 4, 2026. Born on February 14, 1948, in Juárez, Mexico, she lived most of her young life in southern California. Yolanda lived a life rooted in faith and family.
Yolanda was the beloved daughter of the late Maria Ponce Rodriguez and a cherished sister to Maria Elena Garcia, David Estrella, Robert Rodriguez, Carlos Rodriguez, and Leticia Velasco.
Above all, Yolanda treasured her family. She was a loving mother to Armando Acosta, Diana Vance, Cindy Acosta, Eric Acosta, Vivian Yarbrough, and Veronica Acosta. Her greatest legacy lives on through her children, 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, who will forever carry her love, values, and memories in their hearts.
Yolanda graduated from Baldwin Park High School in California and attended Mt. San Antonio College. She dedicated part of her young professional life to serving the Los Angeles Unified School District and later was employed by the Ontario International Airport. Outside of work, she enjoyed playing tennis, visiting her grandchildren, volunteering at church, and chasing her Chihuahuas. She strongly valued education and took every opportunity to encourage young family members to pursue higher education.
Her Catholic faith was an essential part of who she was and she worked hard to model it for her children. Over the years, she volunteered at St. George Catholic Church, Bloomington, Ca and later at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Merritt Island, Fl. The spiritual foundation she provided will remain her most meaningful legacy.
Though her family will deeply miss her presence, they find comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering, and hope that her faith has carried her to her eternal reward. With eternal gratitude, we give thanks for the life of Yolanda.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
