Agnes "Peggy" Marie Bird

92, of Mesa, AZ, passed away on 3/20/14 at 11 pm. She was born in Punxsytawney, PA on 12/9/1921 and was one of 5 girls and 2 boys. She grew up next door to her grandparents and two aunts and remained close to her family through her life.She graduated from the local high school and moved to Bridgeport, CT to find work and live with an aunt. She met a young sailor from the navy, Charles Bird, who was stationed in New London, CT. and they soon married. They spent their early years together traveling from CT to PA and CA where Charlie was from. They settled in CT, started their family with their first son Robert. They planned and built a home in neighboring Milford, CT and had a second son Mark. Peggy was a business woman and owner of a take out restaurant, a pet shop and kennel before she and her husband retired when they were 60. She spent the next decade enjoying her family, traveling and helping her son's get started in their lives. She and Charlie followed their son Robert and his wife, Kathleen, to Arizona where they enjoyed many years in the beautiful southwest. Peggy is survived by her son Mark and grandson, Paul, of Florence, Ma. Her daughter-in-law, Kathleen, and grandson, Bobby, Jr. of Gilbert a sister, Dorothy Rolick of Pittsburg, PA along with several nieces and nephews also in PA.
