On December 16, 2024, we lost our beloved Alfredo Ballesteros, Jr. He was 72 years young. He leaves a legacy of love, selflessness, and kindness.
Born in 1952 in Tempe, AZ, Alfredo lost his mother at an early age, so he had to grow up very quickly to take care of his siblings. His cousins considered him like a brother to them.
At the age of 17, Alfredo joined the US Army and would spend more than 20 years serving our country. He saw combat in Vietnam and retired with an honorable discharge as a 1st Sergeant.
While in Vietnam, he met the love of his life, Lieu. He brought her back to the states where they married and had three children.
After retirement from the military, Alfredo settled in Arizona to be close to his family. He held many jobs in maintenance and retail, but a work injury forced him into early retirement.
Alfredo liked to spend his days fixing things and being a handyman. He also liked going on trips with his wife and cousins to the casino. He loved Game of Thrones, old movies like Moby Dick, and westerns. He loved to discuss politics and history. Most of all, he loved his family.
Alfredo was the most kind-hearted, wisest, selfless, hard-working, honest man any of us have ever known. Losing him is a massive loss. He leaves behind his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son.
