Andrew William Lindsay, a resident of Mesa Arizona, formerly of El Cajon and Potrero, California passed away on December 4, 2021 at the age of 96 years.
Andrew was born on July 20, 1925 in Oak Park, Illinois to William Taylor and Zetta Viola Lindsay. He moved to the state of California at 6 months old and lived there until his move to Arizona in March 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Inez Lindsay.
Andrew proudly served in the United States Navy as a Sonarman First Class during WWII and the Korean War. After the war he had many occupations including a Camp Ranger and District Executive for the Boy Scouts of America, an insurance agent for Farmers Insurance and Maintenance Mechanic, Executive Housekeeping, Building Maintenance and Custodian at various companies. He retired from the City of La Mesa, CA in July 1990. He kept active as a Park Volunteer for various parks in Southern California. Andrew was also very active in several Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts. He and his wife were active members of the Potrero Community Church in Potrero, California.
Andrew will be missed by his sister, Elizabeth Moller of Santa Barbara, CA, his children Christie Gruye’ of Anacortes, WA, Dawn Lohndorf (Joseph) of Mesa, AZ, Edward Lindsay (Linda) of Redmond, WA, and Faith Maslow (Paul) of Delray Beach, FL. Andrew also has 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Services with military honors will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona (23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ) on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 11:00 am. A celebration of life will follow at ViewPoint RV and Golf Resort (Northpoint Building, 650 N. Hawes Road, Mesa, AZ).
