Anne Shook

Anne married Robert (Bob) Shook on January 5, 1957. His military career took them many places across the U.S. and at each location, Anne made sure their house was a home for their family of four. While Bob was in Vietnam, Anne volunteered with the Red Cross and decided that she would pursue a career in healthcare. Anne went to school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse in Savannah, Georgia. Upon his return, they moved to Alamogordo NM where Anne worked at Gerald Champion Hospital for several years. Anne went back to school at NMSU and completed her BSN to become a Registered Nurse. After Bob retired from the Army, they moved to Arizona where their daughters were living. Anne was a surgical nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix Arizona for many years. She was also a surgical nurse at Tempe Surgical Center. Anne was the founding Nurse Administrator for East Valley Surgical Associates, managing the outpatient surgery center for a multitude of surgeons. Bob’s work took them to Oklahoma for a few years where Anne continued to work as an Operating Room RN. Then, Anne and Bob built a beautiful home in Williams, Arizona and Anne worked in town at the health care clinic. Eventually, they retired to San Angelo Texas. There Anne volunteered with a women’s services hotline. They returned to Mesa AZ to be near their daughters and grandchildren in 2014.

Anne gave of herself in all things. With her daughters, she was a girl scout leader and when they were in marching band, she walked each parade route and attended every football game. She spent lots of time with her grandchildren when they were young, often taking them up to the cabin in Williams and spoiling them “a little.”

Anne enjoyed many things including reading and quilting. She loved chocolate and her red shoes.

Beloved wife of Robert (Bob). Loving Mother of Diane Shook and Joan Chanez (husband Robert). She is survived by her 4 grandchildren, Cory Tucker, Scott Rozell (wife Taylor), Jenny Rozell, and Connor Tucker (wife Kendra). And, 6 great grandchildren, Carter and Layla Wagoner and Parker, Drew, Isaac, and Kylie Rozell.

Mass will be held for Anne on Thursday, April 2 at 10:00am MST. The service will be live streamed, information to follow.
