Antonija was born on April 5, 1942, in Zemun, in the former Yugoslavia. A remarkably intelligent and gifted woman, she earned a degree in economics and went on to work as an economist and bank manager in Belgrade. Her gifts extended far beyond her professional life. Antonija had an artistic spirit and a love for drawing and painting. As a young woman, she was also a gymnast and loved horseback riding.
Antonija married Zivorad Trickovic before moving with him and her son, Nebosja Markovic, to Toronto, Canada. There, Antonija and Zivorad welcomed their son, Marko. In 1982 the family moved to Arizona, where Antonija would spend the remainder of her life.
Although Antonija accomplished much throughout her life, in her later years her greatest devotion was to her family. She dedicated herself to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her family became the center of her life, and she remained deeply devoted to those she loved. Antonija was an Orthodox Christian, and her faith remained an important part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Zivorad Trickovic, and her parents, Dinko and Zita Duzevic.
Antonija is survived by her sons, Nebosja Markovic and Marko Trickovic; her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Castaneda; and her grandsons, Aleksandar Trickovic and Christian Trickovic.
