Arlene Carol McLean

Arlene was the eldest child of Arthur J. and Lila M. (Rice) Lunde, Mohall, N.D. She was born at the farm home of Lila's older sister Mabel Kirby who lived 10 miles east of town. She attended grades one through eight at the Renville Township School. Arlene graduated from Mohall High School in 1958.

During the summer of 1958, she started her employment history at Minot Federal Savings and Loan as a typist and then was promoted to a teller position. Arlene also worked as a Civil Service clerk typist in Base Supply, Minot AFB. Arlene moved to the Seattle, WA area where she was employed at the Renton Boeing plant.

In 1971 Arlene returned to Minot, ND where she worked in the Fiscal Control Office, Minot AFB doing accounting for non-appropriated funds on base. She met Lowell (Pete) Richard McLean, owner/operator of Northern Trophy and Engraving and they were united in marriage at First Lutheran Church, Minot, ND on Nov 16, 1974.

After Northern Trophy was sold, Arlene and Pete moved to Mesa, AZ arriving on Aug 15, 1986 with two sons that were then enrolled in the Mesa Schools. Arlene was the bookkeeper for a flower shop and a CPA, but in Feb 1990, Arlene became employed as the in-house accountant for a large Veterinary Hospital and their three satellite clinics. She liked working with numbers and her goal was to be as accurate as possible when compiling the paperwork into financial reports, quarterly and year end payroll for the business owners. She left the Veterinary Hospital in Sept 2004, Arlene's last accounting position was for a business that supported franchise owners.

Throughout the years Arlene was involved with the Lutheran church as a Sunday school teacher, Choir, Social Ministry, Bible study leader and Recorder for the church nurses. She also volunteered at the Red Mountain Center in the Senior Gift Shop. Family was important to her and she enjoyed entertaining groups of relatives for a meal which probably included a new recipe added to the menu. She liked to surprise someone with a special gift that suited them. Arlene was an avid reader and interested in the genealogy of the Lunde and Rice families If there was dance music playing, that was a fun time.

Survivors are: Spouse: Lowell (Pete) Richard McLean, Sons: David Eugene and Cory Daniel McLean, Siblings: Gary (Barbara) Lunde, Lee (Ann) Lunde, Marcia Lunde, and Anita Newgard along with her Sister-in-law Bonnie Lunde as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Monte Lunde, niece Cynthia Lunde, nephew Andrew (AJ) Lunde and brother-in-law Tim Newgard.
