Carl A Nevala

Carl August Nevala passed away on May 6, 2021 at 11:25pm in Mesa, Arizona at the age of 79, surrounded by loved ones close and far. Carl was born on July 20, 1941 in Sebeka, MN. He was preceded in death by his dear parents August & Hilda Nevala and three siblings: Anna, Alver, and Isaac (Ike). Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Carl married Ruth E Tulkki and started a family in Minnesota. They subsequently moved to Arizona where they raised their family and lived for 40 years.

Carl is survived by his wife Ruth and seven children: Kimberly Nevala, Lance (Kei) Nevala, Steven (Nicole) Nevala, Kristin (William) Daily, Karin (Michael) Nevala, David (Tiffany) Nevala, and Ryan (Sarah) Nevala. He will be greatly missed by his 16 adoring grandchildren (Rukayah, Samantha, Zaynab, Greta, Aliyah, Carolyn, Eric, Jenna, Jake, Karim, Emma, Mason, Hanna, Amir, Adrain, Jackson, and the pups) who hold dear their Papa as well as seven sisters - Dagmar Siltala, Elizabeth Tulkki, Martha Halonen, Trudy (Fred) Kilpela, Nora (Ulf) Liliegren, Julia Nelson, and Ruthie Lassila.

His loving heart and Finnish blood stood strong to the end. A beacon of light with an infectious sense of humor, Carl was ‘lempeä sielu, jota rakastavat kaikki, jotka tapaavat ja tuntevat hänet’: a gentle soul, loved by all who met and knew him.

A viewing & memorial service will be held on Saturday, the 15th of May, 2021 at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park & Funeral Care in Mesa, AZ. The viewing will be 10-11am and a service from 11-12pm. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, the 20th of July, 2021 at the family farm in Sebeka, MN.
