Carol Ann Wallis, known affectionately as Grandma Carol, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2023, in Mesa, Arizona, at the age of 91. She was born on March 13, 1932, in New Jersey. Carol was a loving and caring woman with a feisty and gleeful sense of humor. She grew up in Panama, where she grew her love for seeing new places and meeting interesting people.
Carol had a successful career as a Court Clerk in Brighton. Her attention to detail and dedication to her work made her an invaluable asset. After retiring Carol had a love for knitting, thrift store shopping, and traveling the world, collecting her many treasures along the way. She made countless sweaters for her grandchildren and her beloved teddy bear friends.
Family was one of the most important things to Carol. You could always count on a bowl of chicken and dumplings and a white Russian, while she recounted stories about her treasures and life experiences. She never hid how she felt about anything, even if it meant hurting your feelings a little bit.
Carol leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her daughter, Patrice Carey, her son, Michael Scofield, her sister, Joan Splawn, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ann Birchfield, and her father, Sidney "Russell" Lawrence.
Carol Ann Wallis, or GC as she was fondly known, will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her love for her family, adventures heart, clever humor and honesty will forever be remembered. She was fiercely independent, strong and firm in her beliefs. May her soul find eternal peace.
