Charles moved to Arizona in 1950 and attended Emerson Grade School, Phoenix Union High School and 2 years at Phoenix College.
Charles met the love of his life, Carol Swick, and they married on October 9, 1965. Together they had one daughter, Cheryl.
His hobbies were RC planes, fishing, and amateur radio.
Charles was employed by Arizona Department of Transportation as a draftsman and structural detailer for almost 30 years. Known as Chuck to his coworkers, he wanted to be remembered for his service to fellow employees, which included his trainings on the CADD system which he did to help others to succeed.
After retiring in 2001, Chuck took up wood carving. He has made several pieces of artwork which have been displayed throughout his home and workshop. Chuck made a carving of the Dan Patch horse, and it was donated and on display at the Dan Patch Museum in Oxford, Indiana. His other hobby was going to Falcon Field and watching the airplanes take off and land.
Chuck was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother Al.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Gerbens, and daughter, Cheryl (Vernon) Leeper.
