Charles Raymond Klett

Charles “Chuck” Raymond Klett, 80, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on August 11, 2023, at Mercy Medical Center in Gilbert, Arizona. Chuck married Linda Rose Clough on February 16, 1963, in Fairfield, Iowa, and recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. Chuck was a graduate of Indian Hills Community College with a criminal justice degree, qualifying him to work in law enforcement where he served as a police officer in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. He was a believer in higher education and all three of his children and nine of his grandchildren graduated or are attending college.

They say a measure of a man are his friends and family. Chuck was deeply loved by all who knew him and easily made friends with those he met. Dad always had a great sense of humor and most people he knew remembered how good he made them feel. He left his mark on family homes, completing many renovations over the years. “No” was not in his vocabulary. He was a big sports fan and loved the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Chuck graduated from Fairfield High School in 1962. He remained in touch with his Iowa classmates, frequently attending high school reunions and making frequent visits to his two hometowns of Fairfield and Mt. Pleasant. In 1986 he followed his two sons and a future daughter-in-law to Tempe, Arizona. Chuck spent a majority of his working life running a home renovation business (Klett Decorating) in Iowa and Arizona, with Linda at his side. He also spent several years employed by Marriott International and the Kyrene School District.

Chuck is survived by his wife Linda; three children Steven (Tracy), Christopher (Kim), and Kelly (John Holbrooks); ten grandchildren (Dane, Justin, Alex, Shelby, Christian, Dakota, Hunter, Charlee, Brandon, and Erick); and five great grandchildren (Henry, Harper, Oliver, Kai, and Brooke with number 6 on the way). Three siblings Pat McClellan, Robert Klett, and Linda Gill also survive him. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents August and Lucille (Minick) Klett; his sisters Mary (Bob) Ackerman and Diana Klett; and Linda’s parents Carroll and Dorothy Clough. He leaves his beloved dog, Jimmy, in the care of his loving wife.

There will be a Celebration of Life at Lakeshore Mortuary,1815 South Dobson Road, Mesa, Arizona 85202, on Saturday August 19, 2023 at 11am followed by a reception at the home of Steven and Tracy Klett in Tempe, Arizona.
