93, died in his home June 2, 2012. Charles was born in Davenport, Iowa and moved to Mesa after being stationed in the area during WWII. He attended ASU on the GI Bill and after graduation, married Mary Ruth Thurber of Mesa. They were married 61 years. Until his retirement in 1986, Charles worked as the executive secretary of the Mesa, Tempe, and Chandler Board of Realtors and for many years served as the Minister of Music at the First United Methodist Church in Mesa. After retirement, Charles turned his passion for Arizona history into a second career and wrote four books of Arizona tales and folklore. He is survived by his daughter Kerry of Fargo, North Dakota. A graveside service will be held at The City of Mesa Cemetery Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 10:00am. Arrangements have been entrusted to Melcher Mortuary Chapel of the Roses.
