

Charles John Porter, 70, of Heber, passed away suddenly and tragically in a car accident on May 28, 2012. He was born February 3, 1942 in Chicago, IL, but made Arizona his family's home for the past 60 years. Chuck excelled as a union electrician, building power plants and commercial structures across the country for 38 years before retiring from Phoenix IBEW Local 640. Chuck was also a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and served overseas with his brother during the Vietnam conflict. He truly loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Chuck had a sharp wit, great sense of humor, and a charismatic personality. He led by example and was always first to help his family and friends. He worked tirelessly and achieved enviable personal and professional success. Chuck is survived by his wife Susie; daughters Kimberly and Kerry (Shannon); grandchildren Michael (Ashley), Chad (Kellie), Lindsey, and Brooke; great grandchildren Bailey Sue and Coleton; and sister-in-law Beverley (Mike). Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park at 400 S. Power Rd. in Mesa will host a viewing on Saturday, June 2, from 6-9pm and memorial services on Sunday, June 3, at 6pm.
