

With great sadness we announce the passing of Charles Edwin Smith, Born August 11, 1955. Son of the late Ed and Gertrude Smith. Charles graduated from Parker High in Parker, Arizona in 1974. Immediately after his graduation he joined the United States Air Force where he served until 1996, and retired after 21 years of service. Following his retirement from the United States Air Force, Charles went through the police academy and served as a police officer for 14 years. Charles retired as a Patrol Sargent from Madera Police Department in Madera, California in 2007.
Charles loved his family and loved the Lord with all his heart. He lived a life of service. He had a great love for his country and his fellow man. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He has had many amazing accomplishments throughout his life and was a wonderful example to everyone who was blessed to know him.
Charles is survived by his wife, soulmate and love of his life, Sherri Lyn Smith. His four children: Charles (Katerine) of Abilene, TX, Allan (Jeanette) of Odessa, TX, Tara (Ben) Pirsch of Houston, TX, and Brianna Smith. His grandchildren: James, Marion, MacKenzie, KyleighAnn and Hunter.
Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3920 E. Brown Rd, Mesa, AZ 85205. A visitation will be held from 9:30-11am. Funeral Service will be from 11am-12pm.
Please join us in celebrating Chuck’s life and accomplishments. He will be honored by the Patriot Guard with an escort to the cemetery and full military honors. He will also be honored with a fly over from the Falcon War Birds from Falcon Field. Chuck will be laid to rest at San Tan Memorial Gardens in San Tan Valley, Arizona.
