It is with profound sadness that the family of Colby Longbow Gilmore announces his passing on March 14, 2024, at the age of 38. Colby left this world too soon, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories among those who knew him.
Born on March 8, 1986, to Frankie J. and LaRue Gilmore, Colby grew up in a loving household with four siblings—Chelsea, Dallas, Wyatt, and Kiana—where he developed his lifelong love for adventure and the great outdoors. A 2004 graduate of Monument Valley High school, Colby’s early life was marked by a calm and gentle demeanor, traits that would define him throughout his years.
Colby embarked on a successful career in the energy sector as an Operations Specialist, where his dedication and expertise were not only recognized but deeply valued. While his professional achievements were many, it was his role as a father to his beloved daughter, Haven, that Colby held most dear. Haven was the light of his life, and every moment spent with her was cherished.
Colby's love extended beyond his immediate family to include his three step-children, Dominic, Nicolette, and Joe, whom he embraced with open arms and a full heart, sharing with them his passions and teaching them the value of kindness and laughter.
An avid lover of the mountains, Colby found solace and joy in hunting, golfing, and baseball, particularly in cheering for his favorite team, the New York Yankees. His competitive spirit and camaraderie shone through in his online gaming, where he shared countless hours of fun with his family and friends. Yet, it was perhaps Colby's role as the "baby whisperer" that endeared him most to his family. His gentle nature and magical touch with his nieces and nephews were a source of joy and wonder, making him the favorite uncle who could calm any storm.
Colby is survived by his daughter, Haven; his parents, Frankie J. and LaRue Gilmore; his siblings, Chelsea, Dallas, Wyatt, and Kiana; his step-children, Dominic, Nicolette, and Joe, whom he loved as his own; and numerous nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Colby.
A celebration of Colby's life will be held on March 23, 2024, with a viewing at 10:00am and a memorial service at 11:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (1007 S 72nd St, Mesa, AZ 85208), followed by a burial at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park (6747 East Broadway Road, Mesa, AZ 85206). The family invites friends and loved ones to a reception at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (1007 S 72nd St, Mesa, AZ 85208), to share stories and memories of Colby.
Colby's warmth, humor, and loving presence will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. As we say goodbye, let us remember the joy Colby brought into our lives and the indelible mark he leaves on our hearts.
