David John Smith

David John Smith passed peacefully after a brief illness on May 19, 2021 at the Desert Blossom Rehabilitation Center in Mesa, AZ. Dave was born January 13, 1945 in Springville, NY to Glenn Charles and Irene Isabelle Smith.

Dave lived his early life in Western New York, raised on the family farm in Chaffee NY with his brother and sisters. Although a top student through high school and early college days at the University of Buffalo, Dave left school before graduating in order to take care of his young family. Dave fathered two children, David J. Smith Jr. and Tracy L. Smith-Dengler, with his first wife, Judy Dow.

Dave met the love of his life, Patricia H Smith, in the mid-seventies and they spent the next forty years sharing all of the adventures that life can offer. Dave and Pat spent their early years in Southern California where Dave worked primarily in Transportation Management. They relocated to Mesa, AZ in 1986 and both spent the remainder of their careers working in the military development division of Boeing. After retiring in 2015 Dave and Pat began traveling the country in their RV, enjoying numerous trips across the country with their beloved grandchildren, Cheyenne Rhaine Lovering-Hawkins and Asher Laine Lovering.

Dave is preceded in death by his sweetheart, Patricia H Smith; his son Carl William Smith; his parents Glenn Charles and Irene Isabelle Smith; and his brother Glenn Charles (Skip) Smith Jr.; and his great granddaughter Astrid Raye Hawkins.

Dave is survived by his son David J. (Daze) Smith; his daughter Tracy L. Smith-Dengler (Frederick); his daughter Kori Wolcott (Jamie); his sister Linda Smith; his sister Patricia Fenstermaker (Ronald); grandchildren Cheyenne R. Lovering-Hawkins (Raini), Asher L. Lovering, Payton R. Wolcott, and Charles T. Wolcott; great grandchildren Mayann and Aiden Hawkins; as well as countless nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins. Dave is also survived by the Hengen and Keledjian families, friends who have become family through all of our years together.

Private Memorial Services for local family will be scheduled at a later date. Dave and Pat will be interred together, and near to their son Carl, at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park at 400 S. Power Rd, Mesa, AZ 85206.
