Dawn was born in the small town of Panaca, Lincoln County, Nevada on December 3, 1930, in her family home to parents Bernell Joseph Edwards and Hannah Belva Wadley. She was the third of four children.
Dawn graduated from Wasco Union High School, Wasco, California in 1948. She attended BYU in Provo, Utah, and Secretarial school in Kansas City, Kansas. She married Elliott A. Fairbanks March 17, 1951, for time and all eternity in the LDS Salt Lake Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah. Dawn and Elliott were the parents of 6 children, including 2 through adoption. Their family lived in various parts of the country for educational and employment opportunities before retiring to Milton, Florida in 1990.
Dawn was preceded in death by her parents Bernell and Hannah Edwards, her two sisters Mary and Carole, a brother Bernell Jr., her husband Elliott A. Fairbanks and her oldest son Jay.
She is survived by her remaining children and spouses; daughter-in-law Delvenia (Jay) Fairbanks; daughter Claudia (Dale) Larson; son Paul (Jetta) Fairbanks; son Matt (Lisa) Fairbanks; daughter Cindy (Clark) Atwood; and son Jonathan (Amy) Fairbanks. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, their spouses and many great grandchildren.
Viewings will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park & Funeral Care, 400 South Power Road, Mesa, Arizona, and Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at National Cremation and Burial Society, 5641 Highway 90 W, Milton, FL 32583.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. following the Milton, Florida viewing.
Interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida.
