Born on August 6, 1928 in Winner, SD, he was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during both World War II and the Korean War. After service, he met his first wife, started a family, and eventually moved to Rolling Meadows, IL. Don made his career in mobile homes and recreational vehicles working for Hedlin Mobile Homes and Holiday Homes & Campers in Rosemont, IL, and finishing up as park manager of Buckhorn Ranch Estates in Des Plaines, IL. Retiring in 1991, he eventually settled into his final retirement home in Mesa, AZ. Don was known to be someone who could fix or build anything whether with a saw and hammer or a sewing machine. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and will be terribly missed by all.
Don is survived by his daughters Catherine Hamma and Susan (Tim) Johnson, his grandchildren Kirk Johnson, Carolyn (Matthew) Brener, Katie (Tim) Eigenfeld, his great-grandchild Alice Brener and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy Lee (nee Mangum) and his second wife Bettyjoy (Hughes), and his parents.
