

Donald "Fritz" A. Miller born on Feb 22,1933 in Bruce, SD passed away April 12, 2026 at the age of 93. Surrounded by loved ones, Fritz succumbed to heart failure after a life marked by dedication and accomplishment.
Fritz graduated from Rapid City High School in 1955. Following his graduation, he served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. After completing his military service, he pursued higher education at the University of Washington in Seattle, earning a degree in Civil Engineering. This achievement launched an impressive career spanning 37 years as a fatigue test engineer for The Boeing Airplane Company in Everett, WA. His contributions to the field reflected his unwavering commitment to excellence and left a lasting impact. Fritz was also deeply proud of his Lakota heritage and was an enrolled member of the Rosebud Sioux Reservation.
Fritz and his family were longtime residents of Bothell/Kenmore WA. He coached baseball for years first with the Kenmore little league and then later with the Bothell American Legion team. He had a love for the outdoors hunting elk and deer in the same area in eastern WA for 50+ years, he also loved playing golf with friends and loved ones. He enjoyed traveling and meeting new people and seeing other cultures. Fritz will be remembered for the look of delight, joyfulness and affection in his eyes and his smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles A. Miller and Virginia R. (Murray) Miller, his siblings, Beverly F. (Miller) Trull, Charles S. Miller and Aaron B. Miller, and daughter Maryann (Miller) Ellis.
He is survived by his devoted wife Diana R. Miller, brother (Roger) Barney Gugel, his daughters Linda Miller Hansen (Jay), Dawn Hawthorne (Lincoln) and Lael Griffiths (Scott), step-children Kari Anderson, Kyle Anderson (Laurie), Kendra Vadney (Bryan) as well as numerous beloved nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Mesa Elks Club on May 16, 2026 from 1-3pm. Fritz's final resting place will be in Rapid City, SD later this summer or early fall.

Fritz was deeply loved and respected by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, dedication, humor and love will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. May his memory bring comfort to his family and friends during this time of loss.
