IN THE CARE OF

Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park & Funeral Care

Donald "Donnie" Ray Smith passed on May 11, 2026, at the age of 77.

Donnie was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on September 15, 1948, to Richard and Juanita Smith. After graduating from Maryvale High School, he attended Glendale Community College for two years before earning his bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Arizona State University.

Donnie proudly served as a Military Police Officer in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He served his country from 1970 to 1972 while stationed in Thailand. After returning home, Donnie continued his service in the National Guard for another two years before beginning his career with the Arizona Department of Transportation, where he worked until his retirement.

On April 9, 1977, Donnie married the love of his life, Pamala Berry. Together, they built a deeply loving and devoted marriage that lasted 49 years, filled with companionship, loyalty, and enduring love.

Donnie had a deep and abiding faith in the Lord, which guided him throughout his life. He found joy in studying the Bible and sharing his knowledge and faith with those around him, offering encouragement and wisdom to others.

Donnie is survived by his wife, Pam, seven brothers and sisters, twenty-two nieces and nephews, one great-nephew, and loving in-laws. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard; mother, Juanita; and stepfather, Robert.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and friends.

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgement, but has passed from death into life” John 5:24
